Maryland Baby Photographer On Location | Precious Newborn

Busy, busy, busy! Baby Paige was greeted into this world by Mom, Dad and 2 older brothers and sisters. This family of 5 (FIVE!!!) kids kept me pleasantly busy. I might even say I was highly entertained during our session. The older kids were curious about all my gear – even my shoes (Sketchers Shape Ups – they do look kinda funky)! We started off with the newest addition to the family, and then made sure to get some with mom. This baby is supposed to be their last and as I was photographing them, it was evident mom was savoring every precious moment she could. What truly amazed me, was her ability to take care of everyone – myself included! I mean, the woman baked us some biscuits during the middle of our session. Mother Of The Year contender FOR SURE!!! I mean seriously, she looks awesome, was parenting 4 older kids, caring for a newborn AND baking. When I had my newborn baby (just one) I could hardly find time for a shower. Seriously!!! I tried to learn her secrets, but she was ever so modest – insisting she wasn’t as together as she looked. I still don’t believe her! I do know, she has five smart, beautiful, well behaved children. She’ll deny the well behaved part, but trust me – I’d be a very happy mommy if my child grows up like them!

Howard County Childrens Photographer | Party, Party, Party!

The First Birthday is so bittersweet! I have had the sheer please of photographing this little girl before she could walk, before she could stand, before she could sit, back when she was a tiny little thing. She always has those gorgeous baby blues and porcelain skin.

I had a very hard time when my own son turned one. I felt like all the “firsts” were over. I mourned the loss of his babyhood. My grief was short lived as he started talking and exerting his desire for independence. There were and are still many more “firsts” ahead for both my son and Miss Bella. I hope I’m there to capture a few more of those milestones! Thank you Miss Bella (and your parents!), for sharing your baby days with me – it has been a true honor! Happy Birthday sweet girl!

If only they could stay little… Miss Arabella was one of my first clients and now, sniff, she is the big “One.” Sessions with Bella are always a blast – her mommy is very into accessorizing and always has amazing outfits for this little girl. To celebrate her first birthday, we did a cake smash. We sure did have lots of fun, with this little girl turning one!

But even more than that, I love working with their families. The energy in the home, the excitement, the pride they take in this precious little gift they have been given. I enjoy hearing the labor story, talking about the little personality emerging, and discussing the cute little movements and features. I remember bringing home my own baby and those special first days and weeks.

Now that my own child is starting to grow up, I have a special affinity for the older children in the families I work with. I love talking to them about the baby, and watching them with their tiny siblings. I was working on location for this family and as soon as I got to their home, I was greeted with the biggest smile from one of the sweetest big brothers ever! The excitement just radiated from soon-to-be-four-year-old Anthony! He couldn’t wait to introduce me to “his” baby. Little Cece was easy going, sleepy and beautiful – just like her mommy. The whole family was gorgeous and our session was a bunch of fun! And when I started to pull out of the driveway, Anthony had some incredibly sweet parting words for me. He is just so caring and I know he’ll be a great big brother!

Baltimore Maryland Wedding Photography | Katie & Alex

The say a picture is worth a thousand words, but I can’t let a blog post go without a little commentary!

Katie & Alex actually got married – gulp – 1 month ago today! They’ve been on a world tour and I promised not to post their sneak peek until they returned. It just wouldn’t be fair for all their family and friends to see their wedding images before THEY did! So, I’ve held back on this post.

It was a BEAUTIFUL day! Not a cloud in the sky. After getting ready at Katie’s parents house, we headed to the ceremony site – a gorgeous private residence overlooking the water in Middle River. Katie looked stunning and once she caught sight of Alex, she looked even more radiant! The couple’s ceremony was brief, but full of special gestures to honor their family. Alex had his father as his best man and the mothers were given roses. They exchanged custom made rings with a wood inlay. I’ve never seen anything like them and they were beautiful!

After the ceremony, we did some formals in the house – a room with INCREDIBLE lighting and then headed out onto the dock for some more images. Katie & Alex gladly obliged all my requests for kissing and holding and cuddling – not that I had to ask much – they could hardly stop gazing at each other except to kiss.

The reception at Martin’s West was a blast! OK, perhaps that is an understatement. The first dance included air guitar – lots and lots of air guitar – and the energy in the room was incredible! The toasts were funny and touching and the guests were characters – especially those boys in the wedding party! I’m not sure I’ve ever had more fun at a wedding! The best part was watching this couple – so in love – watching them kick up their heals, dancing the day away, thanking their parents, embracing their guests and holding each other dear.

And that, my friend, is how the story of Alex and Katie begins…
